GRIEF-STRICKEN teenagers have laid floral tributes and kept a vigil close to the spot where their much-loved 18-year-old friend passed away.
Curtis Wellington, from Wimborne, was at the wheel of a red Fiat Punto in the Crown Mead Car Park on Saturday evening when he complained of feeling unwell. At around 8.05pm he collapsed and his heart stopped beating. An ambulance crew battled to resuscitate him and although he was rushed to Poole Hospital under fast police escort, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Yesterday friends visited the scene to lay flowers. Cards bearing dozens of signatures spoke of their grief and shock and pictures of the popular lad adorned a lamppost.
His jumper, borrowed by a friend just days earlier, was placed among the tributes.
His brother was at the scene but was too distressed to speak.
Police sealed off the car park and took the car away for further examination to try and deduce a cause for the unexplained death. But they say although the cause of death remains unknown, it's not being treated as suspicious.
A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Tuesday afternoon.
