IT'S a dream combination - the world's favourite one-hit wonder, John Otway; former Dr Feelgood/Blockheads guitarist Wilko Johnson and hard- gigging blues rock legends The Hamsters.

This extraordinary three headed monster bill - they are calling themselves The Mad, the Bad and the Dangerous - will be heading for Dorset in a couple of weeks for a two-night residency at Mr Kyps in Poole.

They play the Lower Parkstone venue on Wednesday, September, 14 and Thursday, September 15.

Quite who's mad, who's bad and who's dangerous is a debatable point.

Suffice to say John Otway first became notorious back in 1977 after inadvertently smashing up the studio during an appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test.

He was rewarded with a recording contract, his first hit and a sizeable live audience.

A quarter of a century after the success of Cor Baby That's Really Free, Otway remains rock 'n' roll's favourite eccentric.

Wilko Johnson put Canvey Island on the cultural map when Dr Feelgood ripped the UK music scene apart with a torrent of stripped-bare, primal R 'n' B. He was an enormous (but criminally underrated) influence on the genesis of the punk rock movement.

The Hamsters, who after 19 years and 3,500 concerts, are fondly regarded as one of the best live bands in Britain today, are responsible for putting the whole package together.
