IF YOU fancy the idea of a little al fresco classical singing get yourself down to Poole town centre on Thursday, August 25 and you can witness opera for the people in action.
Touring group Boheme, a quintet of classically trained singers from a variety of backgrounds, will be giving a free performance in Falkland Square, although donations into the hat will be appreciated, with some of the money passed on to charity.
Their single aim is to take opera to the streets of Britain's towns and cities. They include tenor Jack Foley, who is the son of a Durham miner; bassist Franz Hepburn, who was a finalist on Channel 4's Operatunity; baritone Paul Vincent, who is one of the few opera singers of Asian descent; Scotsman John Innes, who is known as The People's Tenor; and German born bass baritone Simon Sundermann.
They will perform between 11am and 2pm. Donations will be split between the Save the Children Fund and helping to pay for their forthcoming debut album which they are due to record with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra in January 2006.
