A WEYMOUTH couple boarded a lifeboat and had their children christened with a bottle of holy water.
Weymouth Lifeboat station mechanic Hefin Roberts, 29, thought of the idea and wife Emma, 31, agreed.
Daughter Holly, three, and their son Jack, six months, were christened by lifeboat chaplain Father Danny Evans. More than 60 family and friends gathered on the pontoon for the ceremony which lasted about half-an-hour.
Mr Roberts, who has worked with lifeboats for 10 years, moved to Weymouth with his wife and daughter over a year ago.
He said: "I just thought it's a nice thing to do and good luck for the boat, something different.
"We were really lucky with the boat and the weather held out."
The boat has been used for wedding blessings in the past but Mr Roberts said the Weymouth Lifeboat has not seen a christening for about two years.
After the ceremony guests went on to Weymouth Sailing Club for more celebrations.
