GOAL hero Steve Legg may have thought it was just like watching Brazil but manager Alex Pike was not convinced.
Legg's second-half effort helped the Hammers see off the Devon-based Western League Premier Division outfit to set up a home tie against Backwell United in five days.
Pike said: "Leggy picked up the ball in the left wing position, cut inside, went round a couple of challenges and crashed it into the top corner - at least that was his view!
"It sounds good and if he meant it, he should be playing for Brazil. I think it was a cross but he assures me it was a shot."
Pike added: "To be perfectly frank, the game should have been dead and buried by half-time. We had some great chances and they didn't really threaten us.
"We deserved the victory and the scoreline flattered them because it should have been more. They are no mugs and although they put us under a bit of pressure after we had scored, I think even they will say we were worthy winners."
Jamie Moores and Dan Cann were both denied by last-ditch clearances as the Hammers made all the early running before Legg finally made the breakthrough 15 minutes into the second half.
Rovers then threw caution to the wind and Hammers goalkeeper Nick Hutchings was forced to pull off a vital save to keep their lead intact. "It was a fantastic save," said Pike who also saw Kevin Gill and substitute Ryan Dovell spurn further chances to give the Hammers some breathing space.
Hamworthy United: Hutchings, Wilson, Lockyer, Williams, White, Waldock, Tilley, Legg, Gill, Cann, Moores (Dovell, 70). Unused subs: Edwards, Lamb, Lucas, Warrington.
