A CANCER victim has raised hundreds of pounds for Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester after throwing a special party.
Graduate Kerry Osmond underwent treatment for six months at the hospital after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease.
Two years on Miss Osmond, 22, is well on the road to recovery and after throwing a celebratory party for family and friends raised £500 for the hospital's cancer unit.
Miss Osmond, of Buckland Newton, near Dorchester, said: "I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease two years ago. I went into the unit to have six months of chemotherapy.
"This donation is in appreciation of all the care and kindness shown to me during my treatment, I will always be grateful to the entire staff for their support and help. It is wonderful to be feeling well again."
Miss Osmond initially held a party to mark the end of her treatment but all those attending enjoyed it so much that they requested it become a regular event.
For this year's get together Miss Osmond secured sponsorship from a range of firms, helping her to raise £500 for the Fortuneswell Unit at the hospital. She said: "I was very fortunate to receive tremendous support from local companies for this worthy cause and would like to thank them all, especially my grandmother, Ann Osmond, for use of the superb venue.
"I class myself as very lucky. I believe I had the best hospital care and treatment at Dorchester. A very special thank you goes to my consultant, Dr Moosa. This money will help to continually provide the very best care for patients."
A business graduate, Miss Osmond made a return visit to Dorset County Hospital to hand over a cheque to Angela Wood, haematology and chemotherapy sister and Cherry Archer, clinic receptionist of the Fortuneswell Unit.
Miss Osmond has set up a website featuring photos from the party and details of the sponsors at: www.the-remission.co.uk
