DR WHO fans beware - the Master is now hiding on Earth in a place called Ringwood after recreating one of the lethal Daleks.

But this version of the Time Lord's deadliest foe won't need a sonic screwdriver to be defeated.

Made from non-intergalactic materials, a regular DIY screwdriver would wreak as much damage as anything the Doctor could throw at it.

The Master - alias Robert Cork - created his full-size Dalek replica following comments made by his son.

It was built over eight weeks in his garage at a cost of £400.

"We were watching the new series of Dr Who and my 12-year-old son Gareth said it would be really nice to have one," said Robert, 49.

"Ironically, I'm not a Dr Who fan and cannot really remember watching it as a child."

After unsuccessfully trying to create the shape of the metal monsters out of cardboard, Robert turned to an online guide with blueprints.

Using plywood, plastic, hardwood, fibreglass, car body filler and the Dalek must-have sink plunger, the remote-controlled beast took shape.

It was then sprayed at a local car body shop.

But unlike its metal relatives across the galaxy, this Dalek is being employed for good not evil.

"We are raising money for the Bournemouth Leukaemia Fund by inviting people to have their photograph taken with it," said Robert, who has leukaemia.

"We've done some school fetes and the next two Saturdays will be in Ringwood town centre. In exchange for their picture people make a donation to the charity."

Robert and the Dalek, which still needs to be named by its creator, will be outside the Meeting House between 10.30am and 4pm tomorrow, and the Furlong the Saturday after.

People can also go to Robert's house for pictures.

"We're trying to think of different ways we can use it to raise money," he said.

His next project, he says, is building an R2D2 replica from Star Wars. "Before I'd built this Dalek the only thing I'd ever done was household DIY. But now I love it."
