AFTER two glorious weeks of nostalgia, the latest touring production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein favourite The King and I finishes its run at the Bournemouh Pavilion on August 13.
After being on the road since January, the cast, which includes the Broadway star of the perennially popular show Kevin Gray, will be off for a welcome two-week break, so expect a party atmosphere.
Apart from Gray, who plays the King of Siam, the show also features Elizabeth Renihan as the English schoolteacher whose arrival at the Royal Palace helps put her traditional and bombastic employer in touch with a changing world.
This new production celebrates the 50th anniversary of the hugely successful film. The soundtrack contains such memorable numbers as I Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You and Shall We Dance?
Among those in the excellent supporting cast is Alex Beuselinck, the son of musical theatre stalwart Paul Nicholas.
Young Alex has reverted to the original family name. Paul Nicholas's dad (Alex's grand-dad) was 1950s and 60s showbusiness lawyer Oscar Beuselinck.
