AUSTRALIAN child rape pervert Robert Excell has demanded a four-bedroom bungalow in Bournemouth, it has been claimed.

UK born Excell, who was booted out of Australia last Saturday after spending 37 years in jail for his horrific sex crimes against young boys, wants the seaside bungalow complete with drive, garage, garden and a panic button to the nearest police station in case he is attacked by angry locals, it is reported.

Other demands include state benefits of nearly £360 a week - £19,000 a year, a new car, legal aid and a gagging order on the media like Soham liar Maxine Carr's to keep his location secret, a national newspaper has claimed.

It is also claimed his illnesses, including asthma, diabetes and a heart condition, will cost the NHS £50,000 a year.

An additional £35,000 a year of taxpayers' money will also pay for a team of police officers and probation officials to watch Excell round the clock.

Excell is currently living in London where he has to report to Islington police station. He was put on the Sex Offenders' Register for life last week by magistrates in North London.

Australia's decision to deport Excell to Britain following his release has caused huge controversy as he left the UK as a 10-year-old orphan and has no ties here. However, the move is legal because he never became and Australian citizen.

Detective Chief Inspector Ivor Graham of Dorset Police is the co-ordinator of Dorset's Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA) - a multi-agency approach which aims to protect the needs of the public from the risks posed by sexual and violent offenders.

He said: "If he were to come here there would be a local MAPPA about him but we would never comment on any specific case. All cases are dealt with individually through a multi-agency public protection meeting."

Sir John Butterfill, Bournemouth West MP said: "I can't see why the state should house him and I cannot see any justification for him coming to Bournemouth. I am sure lots of people would love to live in Bournemouth.

"I haven't heard that story but whether he would be housed would be a matter for Bournemouth council."

Mr Butterfill added: "I would not be very happy to have this particular individual in Bournemouth and nor would the Bournemouth residents."

Bournemouth council spokesperson Jo Evans said: "We have not received any housing application from this individual and are unable to say whether he would be eligible for housing without knowing his individual circumstances.

"We work closely with a number of other agencies such as the police child protection unit and are alerted when someone on the sex offenders' register plans to move to the area."

A Home Office spokesman said: "We can't comment on exactly where this man is but must stress that protecting children is one of the government's highest priorities.

"We are doing everything we can to ensure the public is protected, where a risk can be foreseen."
