REVELLERS in Poole could be able to carry on drinking in one of the town's hotspots until 4am every night of the week after bosses applied for a 22-hour licence.

Chillis, in Kingland Road, has already been granted a temporary extension from 2am to 3am for the summer weeks, but director George Latore now wants to be able to open for business at 6am and to stay open until 4am seven nights a week.

Mr Latore said: "Most of the clubs in Bournemouth and the surrounding area have now got a 3am or 4am licence and I'm still trading on a 2am licence so I'm at a disadvantage.

"I've got a variation which is for a summer special which allows us to stay open to 3am. That was granted on July 27.

"I'm now applying for a 6am open to 4am close. It's a 22-hour licence to run seven days a week.

"I don't think I will be opening at 6am but what I will be doing is if there's any big sporting events on the other side of the world I want to be able to open early for breakfast."

The application by Chillis follows one by the Inn in the Park in Branksome Park, which was granted permission to stay open 24 hours.

Landlord Christopher Hollingsworth is also chairman of the Poole Licensed Victuallers Association and said the 55 members of the group were applying for such licences so they could keep their rights for special extensions on dates such as bank holidays and over Christmas and New Year.

Borough of Poole council will be considering the Chillis application at a later date.

Objectors have until August 23 to make their views known by writing to Poole Borough Council, Unit 1, New Fields Business Park, Stinsford Road, Poole, BH17 0NF.
