IF YOU have a working knowledge of Mirah's back pages you're either impossibly hip or you have far too much time on your hands in which to order records on spec from the internet.
And the Philly girl has gone all out for beauty with this splendid set of tunes. Standing proud next to an array of organic instrumentation (listen out for the ukelele!) and unself-consciously blunt lyrics, Mirah messes with the tango for album closer Exactly Where We're From; and has no problem cutting loose and having fun on the enticing Dogs of Buenos Aires. The opening track, Nobody Has To Stay mixes breathy seduction with brutal honesty.
Mirah manages to be both endearingly odd and oddly endearing. She should be a superstar - Nick Churchill
