THIEVES who stole a kayak on Mudeford Quay have left Barton sea scout Danny Tews high and dry without a birthday present.
Although his 11th birthday is not until next month, Danny received the gift of a kayak from his parents early, as he wanted to take it to Scout camp on the Isle of Wight on Sunday, August 7.
Danny spent Friday afternoon paddling in the harbour with his family but, having left the kayak at the dinghy berth to have lunch, they returned to find it missing.
The kayak is a purple and orange Perception Sparc with marble pattern purple and white seat and is quite scratched, having been bought second hand.
It was left without its paddle and Danny's mum Karen believes it must have been carried away or put in a van.
She said: "We wish to warn other harbour users to be vigilant and also to appeal if anyone spots the kayak or sees it offered for sale to please contact the police.
"My son now has no birthday present and no boat for Scout camp."
