IT'S not just litter that volunteers picked up when they made a clean sweep through Alderney West, Poole.
In just over three hours hard-working residents filled three skips with discarded rubbish which included motorbikes, children's toys, fridges and freezers and even a wheelbarrow.
Residents were out in force to support National Make A Difference Day through the Pride in Poole clean-up campaign.
Bulb planting, street cleaning, microchipping of pets, siting of 'No Littering' notices, a best front garden competition and a children's colouring competition also took place.
AFC Bournemouth's Cherry Bear was there and meal vouchers from McDonald's and sweets from Parr's for the children helped make it a success.
Annette Brooke, MP for Poole North, particularly commended the children for taking part. "I was so impressed by the amount of enthusiastic community participation," she said.
Kate Hodder, consumer protection officer said: "The day was a huge success and the difference achieved is clearly visible. I hope the success of this day will encourage other areas to arrange similar activities and take Pride in Poole."
