CARING youngsters in Christchurch have put their best feet forwards to help this week's Children in Need appeal - by turning to jelly.
Priory School pupil Danielle Denison, ten, wanted to do something to raise both money and awareness for the annual fund-raising campaign, which reaches its climax this Friday.
So she teamed up with 17 of her friends for a sponsored walk up and down both sides of the town's High Street - in wellies filled with jelly.
The squelchy stroll - which started at the Priory end of the road, near the Post Office shopping arcade - created quite a stir, and is set to raise around £360 for charity.
"I wanted to find a fun way of doing something to help," said Danielle, who lives in Wickfield Avenue.
"First I thought of putting wellies on for a walk, and then the idea of using jelly as well came into my head. Our friends and families agreed to sponsor us and we'll send off the money as soon as we can, so that other children can be as lucky as we are."
