YOUNG Eddie Bridgen's dad read with interest our piece about the German girl with the world's longest tongue last week.
"I thought 'Eddie can do better than that'," said Kevin Brook.
"When we measured his tongue it was more than three inches long so, from our calculations, it's longer than that girl's.
"He can stick it right up his nose and below his chin."
Annika Irmler, of Tangstedt, near Hamburg, secured a place in the latest Guinness Book of Records with her amazing 2.75 inch tongue.
The 12-year-old has since appeared in newspapers across the world showing off her lengthy asset.
The family of nine-year-old Eddie, from Pokesdown, discovered his amazing talents with his tongue by chance one day.
"He just did it, and we all went 'Ugh' so he did it again," said Kevin. "It's now his party piece and people pay him 50p to watch."
Guinness Book of Records spokeswoman Jo Crawford said: "We've had lots of calls and letters from people who say their tongue is longer than Annika's. If Eddie's family can provide us with measurements and proof we will carry out research to find out if he has got the longest tongue in the world."
