A POCKET-SIZED plan is promoting the Veterans' Rendezvous in Weymouth.
Rendezvous 'business' cards will help spread the word about the unique event.
Harold Crump, vice-chairman of the Weymouth Royal British Legion branch, came up with the idea to attract more visitors to the only regular all-services meeting in the country.
Mr Crump said: "The idea is for people to take the cards, which are the size of a normal business card, and to keep a few in their top-pocket.
"Whenever they go to other association meetings, are on their holidays, or just happen to bump into other veterans, they will be able to give them a card.
"This will tell people when and where the Rendezvous is held and who to contact if they are interested in finding out more."
Mr Crump said nearly 2,000 of the cards had been taken on the day they had been launched, and more would be available at future meetings.
He said: "We have had 8,000 cards printed, and people will be able to take them as and when they need more.
"We hope they will help to get the numbers up at this monthly event, and we think it could bring people from all over the country."
Ron Knight, secretary of Weymouth Royal British Legion, helped to hand out the cards in the Ocean Room at Weymouth Pavilion.
Mr Knight said: "On one side they advertise the Rendezvous and on the other they give details about the veterans' festival to be held in June, which we also want to be as successful as possible."
The cards were produced with help from the tourism and corporate services department of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
