BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS 1, Dorchester RESERVES 1
"IT was a result just to get 11 players on the pitch," said Magpies second team boss Phil Simkin after his injury-hit title chasers took a point off bottom of the table Sports.
Missing more than half of their regular side through injury or first team calls, the Magpies had to turn to the Cosmos youth side for their substitutes.
"Having said that we played quite well and had chances to have won it," said Simkin.
They went in front ten minutes before half-time when a long throw from Anthony Baines was flicked on by Dave Newland and Robbie Taylor headed home.
Inexperience in the visitors' defence allowed Sports to level midway through the second-half and only some great goalkeeping from David Elm prevented Sports going ahead.
Late on both Chris Evans and Lee Cornick missed opportunities to snatch all three points for Dorchester.
"In the end a draw was probably a fair result,"added Simkin. "Sports are a good young side and wouldn't be at the bottom if they hadn't had six points deducted. After some of the sides we have met recently, it was a pleasant change to come up against a team who just wanted to play football.
"It's been a difficult time just lately, but hearing that one of our regulars Carl Poore made such an encouraging first-team debut helps make it all worthwhile."
