Puddletown 13 Sherborne 27
PUDDLETOWN started very well in this Dorset and Wilts Division Two top-of-the-table clash.
The hosts mainly dominated the first-half and this resulted in a try for full-back Mark Thomson.
It was a try from the training park. A ruck was won by Puddletown's forwards inside the Sherborne 22, the ball was spun out to the backs who worked their magic to put Thomson clear and he sprinted in under the posts. The try was
converted by Chris Ricketts.
Prior to this Puddletown's pressure had brought two penalties that were both converted by Ricketts giving the villagers a 13-point advantage at the break.
However, Sherborne came out for the second period a completely different side as their scrums became dominant and their shortened line-outs were never managed by the hosts.
The visitor's first two tries came from those shortened line-outs, the quick ball being offloaded and bundled over the line.
A pair of successful penalties took the score to 13-20 before a late running try and conversion wrapped it up for the north Dorset side.
