WEST Dorset MP Oliver Letwin visited the new premises of the Dorset Scrapstore in Puddletown.
Mr Letwin says he has been a supporter of the scheme, which supplies dozens of schools and community groups with throwaway industrial items, for years.
The scrapstore recycles materials like wood off-cuts, end rolls of wallpaper and leftover fabric, and has just moved to the skittle alley at the former Prince of Wales pub in Puddletown.
Mr Letwin said: "This is a brilliant initiative. It recycles large amounts of waste by making available to schools and playgroups very useful materials.
"I hope that news of this initiative will spread more widely and that schools and playgroups in Dorset will make full use of the facility.
"Considerable amounts of money can be saved, which can be used in our schools and playgrounds. In the meantime, we are helping to preserve the environment."
