A YOUNG woman was taken to hospital after being rescued from the sea off Weymouth Beach.
Emergency services were called out when the woman was seen walking out to sea. It is thought the 21-year-old went into the water following a row with a boyfriend.
Weymouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched and police, ambulance and Wyke Coastguards were also called to the scene. They were stood down when it was established the woman was back out of the water.
An ambulance took the woman to Dorset County Hospital. The incident, which was spotted on CCTV cameras, took place just after 6pm yesterday.
Elsewhere, coastguards were called to investigate a small coaster that appeared to have stopped and be rolling heavily in the sea west of Portland Bill.
The National Coastwatch Institution at Portland Bill reported the boat and expressed concern about its safety. The coastguard helicopter investigated at about 2.15pm yesterday, but the boat was not found to be in danger.
