CHERRIES star Warren Feeney is vowing to clean up his act.
The Northern Ireland under-21 international will be walking a disciplinary tightrope when he lines up in Cherries' Division Two clash at Chesterfield tomorrow (3pm kick-off).
Feeney is due to sign off before starting a one-match ban after being sent off for the second time in 15 days during Cherries' FA Cup first round victory over Worksop.
And the 20-year-old striker is only available for the Saltergate showdown after his previous red card at Colchester earlier this month was downgraded to a caution.
But despite his Layer Road let off, Feeney is still treading a fine line and is just one yellow card away from picking up another ban under the totting-up procedure after receiving four bookings.
He said: "The four bookings have all been silly ones and I know I have just got to keep my head down and stay out of trouble.
"The last thing I want is to get a bad reputation because I'm not a dirty player and I don't cheat.
"I had never been sent off before in my life and then got two red cards in just over a fortnight.
"I was annoyed with the sending off against Worksop because I didn't think I had done anything wrong.
"I'm not going to change the way I play though and I'm still going to be aggressive, but I just want to channel it properly into my game and keep out of trouble."
Sean O'Driscoll has never publicly criticised Feeney for his disciplinary record and the Cherries boss defended his striker to the hilt following his recent aberrations.
O'Driscoll, meanwhile, has named an unchanged squad for the trip to Chesterfield, although joint leading goalscorer James Hayter is struggling with a hip injury.
Hayter, substituted during the second half of Cherries' 0-0 draw with Port Vale in midweek, sat out training yesterday and is likely to face a late fitness test.
O'Driscoll said: "It's very unlike James to come off and we will just have to wait and see how he is. Although he takes a lot of stick, he usually comes through it and rarely misses training or games."
Garreth O'Connor and James Ford could be in contention to replace Hayter, although O'Driscoll may opt to start with a three-pronged attack including Feeney, Derek Holmes and Steve Fletcher.
Cherries will again be without the services of combative midfielder Carl Fletcher, who, despite being ruled out due to a knee injury, would have been suspended for the trip to Derbyshire after picking up five bookings.
