ORGANISERS appealed for wellwishers to make Dorchester's Company at Christmas event go with a bang after a late crisis last year.
Staff from the town's volunteer bureau asked for donations but also sent out an open invitation at the launch of the annual bash.
The 11th annual party is to be held at the Acland Road day centre in Dorchester for anyone who doesn't want to be alone on Christmas Day.
The afternoon event was in danger of flopping last year but was saved when seasonal goodies flooded in after a late appeal.
Marie Waterman, volunteer bureau manager, said: "We want to start our appeal early this year.
"I am writing to local businesses to ask for their help, but would also be grateful for pledges of goods, gifts and financial donations from anybody else."
She added: "We also want to hear from anyone who wants to come along to attend the party or who wants to help on the day."
Last year's bash was hailed a great success by 26 partygoers and four volunteers after the late appeal.
Organiser Tim Limbach spent Christmas Eve driving around Weymouth and Dorchester picking up donations from well-wishers.
Everyone had a raffle prize and a Christmas present to take home from the party and a professional pianist turned up to play music.
The annual event is open to anyone who is alone or lonely at Christmas, whether they are elderly, single, divorced or away from family for unavoidable reasons.
This year's event is between 2-5pm at the day centre and will include an afternoon tea, entertainment, music, presents and games.
Mrs Waterman said: "People shouldn't be shy about coming along. There is no age restriction and it is great fun. People should book their places now."
Anyone who wants to attend, help out or pledge donations and goods is urged to contact Mrs Waterman at the volunteer bureau in Weymouth Avenue on (01305) 269214.
