Dorchester manager Mark Morris returns to action in his reserve side's Dorset Combination League game against Sturminster Newton at the Avenue Stadium tonight. (Kick-off 7.45pm)
Morris hasn't started a first team game for two months after injuring a calf muscle at Chatham. But with central defender Andy Harris beginning a two-game ban on Saturday, he may contemplate naming himself for the FA Trophy tie away to Mangotsfield.
Second team manager Phil Simkin is only too happy to have his boss help him out of the injury crisis that has blighted his side's title challenge.
"With Mark, Ollie Cherrett, Carl Poore and Paul Toms back to strengthen us tonight we are looking a bit more like the side which got to the top of the league and though we are still missing important players like Jorge Diaz, Andy Legg and Mike Kelly we can hopefully get back to winning ways tonight," said Simkin.
Morris said he had plenty of sympathy for Simkin. "It's been a rough couple of weeks for Phil but unfortunately that is what being a reserve team manager is all about," he commented. "Some games he can put out a very strong side and other weeks he has to work tremendously hard on a Friday night to put together a squad.
"But I have been hearing good reports about the youngsters who have been getting their chance and I'm looking forward to seeing them at close quarters tonight," he added.
