ONE OF the best-loved children's stories comes to Bryanston Arts Centre tonight for a 10-day visit, courtesy of the renowned Jake's Ladder Theatre Co.
The Borrowers, which is based on the tales by Mary Norton, is about the adventures that befall the tiny Clock family who 'borrow' certain items that human 'beans' leave behind - making a shoe polish tin lid into a mirror, a matchbox into a chest of drawers.
The play, which has been adapted for stage just once before, is enchanting entertainment for all the family although getting the show to the stage was no easy feat.
"Clearly a story whose main characters are only just six inches high poses huge technical and artistic challenges," explained director Steve Eaton Evans.
"We have used lots of tricks to overcome this, including puppetry, an amazing set design and loads of props."
The show has performances at 10am, 2pm and 7.30pm (there are daily variations) and tickets cost £7.50 plus conc. Call (01258) 456533 for further details.
