WEYMOUTH and Puddletown meet head to head in a Dorset and Wilts Division Two clash at Redlands

tomorrow, kick-off 2.30pm.

Both teams have championship aspirations and with local pride at stake as well, no quarter will be sought or given.

The players know each other almost intimately, so it could be a close encounter of the rugby kind.

Neither club's selectors have finalised their starting fifteens yet as some players will have to undertake fitness tests.

Weymouth have flanker Nathan Howard and fly half Tim McGiver available for selection.

Both skippers, Dave Allan of Weymouth and Puddletown's Duncan Campbell went to lengths to state that it is a game both teams must win if they want to overtake league leaders Sherborne.

Allan added: "For various reasons we haven't had a first team game for almost a month, so I am just hoping that we wont be a little ring rusty."

Dorchester who are currently bottom of South West Division One travel to fourth placed Cheltenham tomorrow and their skipper Paul Ninnim has called for more of the same commitment from his players that they displayed two weeks ago.

Ninnim said: "The team answered their critics who were predicting that we would get a hiding last time out against league leaders Weston-super-Mare.

With a bit more luck we could have beaten them, but now we must reproduce that commitment in all of our remaining league fixtures if we are to survive in this division.

"I keep telling them that a good team don't become a poor team overnight, we have been struggling, but hopefully that is all behind us now.

"Cheltenham were beaten 32-24 at home by Walcot Old Boys last Saturday in the Intermediate Cup and Walcot compete in a Division Two below Cheltenham, so they are beatable.

Dorchester will be without fly half Paul Bassindale who will take at least another couple of weeks to recover from his injured hamstring.

Utility backs Mike Sprules, Joe Morris and Matt Joseph have all been named in the squad, along with flankers Justin Pinder and John Joe Caulfield, but the team will not be selected until before the kick-off.

In the same division Swanage and Wareham, just one place off the foot of the league table, visit Reading who are just two places above them.

The Swans have injury problems with their young full back Chris Leek ruled out by a freak injury.

He was on a shopping expedition when the bag he was carrying slipped out of his grip tearing the ligaments in his little finger, then an operation to repair the damage went septic and he has not played for eight weeks.

Leek sees a specialist this afternoon and is hoping to be passed fit to play.

Flanker Andy Walbrin picked up a badly bruised hip playing in a charity game last week and will not recover in time, also number 8 Richard Gordon has the flu and will have to prove his fitness.

In Dorset and Wilts Division One, Bridport travel to Minety, Blandford visit Trowbridge and North Dorset play away at Westbury.
