POLICE are calling for witnesses to a vicious assault to come forward after frightened onlookers refused to identify an attacker.
A 32-year-old Bere Regis man was beaten up in the Station pub in Weymouth Avenue on Sunday night.
But pub-goers did not want to identify the man who attacked him and police are appealing for anyone who saw the 9.45pm incident to call them.
The victim of the apparently unprovoked attack received serious facial injuries, including a suspected broken nose.
Police officers were unable to identify the assailant after witnesses refused to come forward.
The man is thought to be local and known to the police. Anyone who saw anything should contact PC Alan Miller on (01305) 226801 in confidence.
