MARTIN Miller cracked the first century of the season in the Nationwide Sun Awnings Dorset League, smashing 155 for Bournemouth against Sunday Division One rivals Colehill.
Miller plundered four sixes and 20 fours off 141 deliveries with his third 50 taking just 19 balls before he was run out off the penultimate ball of the innings.
He put on 77 with Dave Kidner (29) and 82 with Phil Turner (14) as the side amassed 256-6. Colehill slumped from 40-1 to 64-7 against newcomer Matt Mixer (7-2-15-5), who plays for British Universities, and although Nick Knight (26 no) and Keiron Cashell (18) made a late rally, the home side succumbed for 118 off 35.2 overs.
Parley were indebted to Howard Shearing (50), Roger Tuddenham (31), Gavin Oldbury (30) and Elliott Brookes (28) for their 194-7 before Cranborne were shot out for 64 off 21 overs by Brookes (5-24) and James France (4-9).
Studland recovered from 23-3 to reach 230-9 thanks to a stand of 81 between Jon Powell (41) and Steve Lawson (37) which was followed by a brisk unbeaten 40 from Tom Killick.
Kingston Lacy were never in the hunt and finished on 158-7 with Barry Park making 47 not out alongside 30 apiece from Nick Park and Colin Randall.
The main scorers in Corfe Mullen's 174 were Nigel Stannard (46), Ian Cresswell (30) and John Adams (35).
Pete Anyan hit 76 for Henstridge, but, with the wickets shared by John Fortescue (3-24), Colin Lewis (3-29) and Len Coade (3-33), Henstridge folded for 139.
Blandford fell apart against Simon Snook (4-38) and Clive Hamblin (3-13) and managed only 107 of which 28 were extras.
Although Kilmington and Stourton started badly, skipper Andy Palmer (33 no) and Clive Hamblin (22) steered them to a four-wicket win with the Blandford wicketkeeper Stuart Robbins claiming four victims - three caught and one stumped.
There was a dramatic finish to Poole Old Grammarians & Poole's opening match in the Saturday Premier Division when they beat Parley by two runs off the last ball at Poole Park.
Despite losing a cheap wicket, POGs made good progress thanks to Nick Williams (20) and Ben Skipworth who put on 40 in quick time before both were trapped leg before by Mark Cutworth (2-27).
Will Murray (10-5-12-0) applied the brakes, but Dave Miller (45 no) and Guy Bidwell (31) added 43 before Carl Brissett (2-28) made the breakthrough and the home side finished on 170-8 from their 50 overs.
Parley's reply was based around Brissett who put on 66 before his opening partner Gavin Oldbury was run out for 14.
Wickets then tumbled at regular intervals to the Nicks, Heckford (3-38) and Williams (3-25), and when Dave Porter (2-34) claimed the prize wicket of Brissett (70), the visitors looked finished on 133-8.
But Ian Bradley (20 no) staged a recovery with the help of the last two batsmen, putting on 15 with James France and 20 for the last wicket before last man Tom Ritcher was bowled by New Zealander Bridwell off the last ball with the score on 168.
Wimborne reached 226-8 with John Dover (44), Simeon Goddard (33) and Justin Perry (20) making the early runs with Matt King (19) and Gavin Will (22 no) boosting the tail. Ron Curtis (4-22) claimed the first four wickets. Only Justin Wharmby (27) looked in touch against South African Simon Greene (4-28) and, with Phil Williams taking 3-28, Hamworthy Recreation were removed for 158 in the 45th over.
In Division One Wayfarers were inserted on a wet wicket and made a poor start losing quick three wickets and, after recovering to 40-3, slumped to 57-7. Pete Stacey (42) and Rich Sellers (17) put on 63 for the eight wicket and they finished on 120-9 (Mark Northcott 3-32). Marnhull's openers Les Ellsworth (31) and Andy Booth (16) put on 45 before Andy Hughes (4-58) made inroads and it was left to Barry Lewis (21 no) and Nick Bramall (18 no) to ensure a four wicket win in the 32nd over.
Blandford's 198-6 owed much to Colin Moxham (43 no) and skipper Steve Webb (27). Richard Turner took 4-41 and the, opening for West Moors, hit 52. He received little support as wickets fell to Mike Peak (4-33) and Nick Baker (4-43) and only late order runs from Pete Sarson (20) and Louis Watson (22) lifted the home side to 147.
The newly combined Bournemouth and Old Bournemouthians were bowled out for 125 off 37 overs by Beaminster. Opener Andy Bell hit 23 as the home side stuttered to 59-7 (Lindsey 3-22) before Peter Sykes (25) and Neil Pack (23 no) put on 50. Richard Bugler (47 no) set up the visitors' five wicket win although they took 45.3 overs to reach their target.
Swanage opener Nick Clarke hit 76, and with support from Dave Rodbourne (30) and Guy Watson (23), saw his side to 163 with skipper Rob Dunning (4-48) and Mike Harper (4-20) the main wicket takers. Compton House made good progress through Harger (25) and Danny Buxton (24) but it was an unbeaten fourth wicket stand of 96 between Dunning (48 no) and mark Simon (50 no) which saw them home by seven wickets off just 29.1 overs.
Tom Waite took 5-27 as Dorchester 2nds were restricted to 149-8 and Sherborne showed their intention of making a swift return to the top flight with a seven wicket win in 33.4 overs mainly due to Andy Nurton (42), Daniel Baker (37 no) and Waite (35 no).
