UMPIRES and scorers were forced to work overtime as Colehill and Stalbridge shared a staggering 123 extras in their opening Dorset League clash of the season.
And with umpires having been instructed to clamp down on wayward bowling, particularly on the leg side, the Saturday Premier Division rivals conceded no fewer than 74 wides between them.
Colehill were first to profit as their 227-9 included 80 extras, with 49 wides and 13 no balls forcing Stalbridge to send down an additional 45 deliveries, equating to an extra seven-and-half overs.
In reply, the Colehill bowling attack was slightly less profligate, with Stalbridge benefiting from just 43 extras, including 25 wides.
With extras top-scoring for Colehill, their total proved sufficient to see them triumph as Stalbridge fell short at 182-9, with Andy Taylor (48) just managing to outscore extras (43).
