ORGANISERS say the opening of Weymouth's first ever folk festival has hit the right note.
They are pleased with early audience numbers for the event at Weymouth Pavilion, which runs until Sunday, and hope to hold the festival annually.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council tourism spokesman Steve Davis said: "The response so far has been really encouraging and we are looking forward to a great weekend of folk music."
Topping the bill during the weekend will be ace accordion player John Kirkpatrick, with Blue Horses, on Sunday afternoon and former Steeleye Span vocalist Maddy Prior on Sunday night.
Today's line-up contains folk music workshops and an evening appearance by the Yetties.
Tickets and more information is available from the Weymouth Pavilion box office on (01305) 783225.
