FORDINGBRIDGE-based Victoria Players have had more than their fair share of bad luck lately, culminating in the cancellation of their autumn production and the resignation of their chairman after more than 20 years' service.

The lack of active members meant that more and more was being done by fewer and fewer people, with plays becoming increasingly difficult to cast due to the limited pool of people available, and there was a real possibility that the company would fold.

Thankfully it didn't, and a new chairman and a publicity campaign to drum up support and membership have put things back on an even keel, so next Thursday the Players return to the town's Victoria Rooms with Derek Benfield's comedy, Look Who's Talking.

Sheila and Andrew, a devoted couple, are settling down to a normal Sunday - Andrew is digging in the garden, Sheila is preparing lunch while waiting for her old friend Jane to join them.

But two totally unexpected visitors wander into this idyllic country scene: Brian, whom Sheila met fleetingly the week before, hints that their relationship had gone a great deal further than a glass or two of red wine; and Carole, Andrew's secretary, who seems all set for a naughty assignation abroad. Sheila and Andrew each begin to weave an elaborate web of lies and half-truths, unaware that the other is doing precisely the same thing.

This leads to a complicated and hilarious series of misunderstandings and mistaken identities...

Wendy Cronan directs, and the play features Kevin Bracey-Wright, Anne Mitchell, Barry Robbins, Sara Russell and Linda Shaw.
