Brit Valley Feetwarmers (Hope & Anchor, St Michael's Lane, Bridport): Another tribute, this time to that unique jazz style created in New Orleans in the 1920s.

Jam On It (Excise House, Hope Square, Brewer's Quay, Weymouth): The weekly session that has launched half a dozen bands continues to scour for new talent.

Acoustic Jam Session (George Inn, Refome, Portland): Billy and Mickey from Hokum Society host this come-one come-all have-a-go occasion.

Mick Thomas (King's Arms, High East Street, Dorchester): A coup for the King's Arms, as Aussie Mick includes this venue in his UK tour. Mick has written many songs, including 'Industrial Town' for the Men They Couldn't Hang. A rare chance to see a great singer/songwriter from the band Weddings, Parties and Anything.

Chill (Lulworth Cove Hotel, Main Street, West Lulworth): Expertly played covers.

Traditional Tune Session (Cove House Inn, ChiswelI, Portland): An unamplified, informal celebration of folk.

Denver Spur/Jeffers'n'Jon/Tahnee (Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room, The Esplanade, Weymouth): The 1st Weymouth Country Music Festival 2002 gets under way - details alongside today.

Loop Garou (Finn M'Coul's, Westham Road, Weymouth): Funky New Orleans soul grooves from this excellent band.

Tush (Tanners, West Street, Bridport): We welcome this female-fronted band to gigland. Jane, the singer in question, graces your TV screens in the band Coffee & Cream, and the band's remit is classic 60's to 90's rock. By the way, it's pronounced 'Toosh', rhyming with 'bush'.

Little Dixie (Jolly Sailor, Castletown, Portland): Mutter Slater's splendid original works nestle alongside classic soul, r&b and new country works. 11pm-ish start.

The Disciples (Excise House, Hope Square, Weymouth): Mark's off to Japan (cue disgruntled muttering), leaving the gifted St Andrew of Osborne to take over on guitar.

Mr Chuffy (Ropemaker's, West Street, Bridport): High energy covers, from the Bluetones to Supergrass.

Mojo (Black Dog, St Mary Street, Weymouth): Classic melodic rock covers.

50% Freak (Britannia Inn, Fortuneswell, Portland): As you might have guessed, it's half of the splendid Freak Circus.

String Whistle (Hope & Anchor, Bridport): Folk, jazz and blues from this duo, as they embark on a local mini-tour.

Chris Groves (Cove House Inn, ChiswelI, Portland): Pop covers from Chris.

Tom Toomey (Brewer's Arms, Martinstown): The Santana tribute man goes solo.

Size Matters (George Inn, Custom House Quay, Weymouth): Size Matters' excellent dbut CD has been No1 on the Lonergan household playlist for the last few days. If it's available at the gig, snap one up.

Lucky Bishops (Jolly Sailor, Portland): Here's another superb local band who draw largely on their own, wonderfully-crafted material. They were on fine form at Mariners the other week.

Far Cue (Hope & Anchor, Bridport): Manic, full-on, expletives a-plenty punk rock.

Version 2:0 (Excise House, Weymouth): Stereophonics to Skunk Anansie, Beatles to Blondie from this accomplished covers band.

Splinter (George Inn, Refome, Portland): A great, big rockular racket in a tiny wee pub.

Backseat Blue (Ropemaker's, West Street, Bridport): Here's a blues band with an impressive pedigree, featuring Simon Kenevan on harp (ex-Producers) and Geoff Jacks, guitar-slinger previously with Driving Sideways and Red House.

Watkins & Heron (Crown Hotel, Punknowle): Kenny is joined by chanteuse Angela tonight to prodcue some most mellifluous vocal harmony with guitar accompaniment.

Triple Rock (Anchor Inn, Seatown, Chideock, near Bridport): Marty's Bridport-based blues outfit returns to the Anchor's cozy environs.

Star Time 2002 (Chesham Suite, Hotel Rembrandt, Dorchester Road, Weymouth): This talent show, which will take place every Monday until July 8, is a chance for young musical hopefuls to shine - congratulations to the Chosen Ones, who have made it to the final. The winner gets £500 and a spell in CMG Audio Studios, and the runner-up gets £250 and a crack at the recording studio. Admission is £1, and doors open at 7:30.
