A GROUP of young Bridport people will be running to help others when they set off on this Sunday's Jurassic Coast Challenge and fun run.
They will be raising money for The Children's Society and, in particular, the WAVES initiative at Weymouth, which supports young people in difficulty.
One of the race organisers, Sheila Meaney, said: "The scheme provides practical help and advice for young people who have no-one else to turn to.
"It is good to see that young people are willing to take time and effort to help others."
Because of the expected high number of runners in the 12.5km challenge and 5.5km fun run, sections of the road around the start and finish areas will be closed to traffic for short periods of time on race day.
Skilling Hill Road, from its junction with South Street and West Bay Road up to Alexandra Road, will be closed between 1.50 and 4pm. Access to the leisure centre will be via Alexandra Road.
Skilling Hill and Broad Lane will be closed at 1.50pm and will re-open as soon as the last fun runner has passed by, probably at 2.30pm at the very latest.
Said Mrs Meaney: "The organisers are sorry are to cause inconvenience to motorists who might normally be using this section of road but everyone would wish for the runners, many of whom are children, to have a safe start to the event.
Police will be on hand at the road closures to advise motorists of alternative routes.
