LYME Regis Football Club has made a brilliant start in its bid to raise £50,000 in partnership funding for the town's Strawberry Field sports field project.
The club reports, in its fund raising update publication, that it has coined in £5,000 since April 1. And it pens the rallying call: "Just £45,000 to go - we can do it."
One of the most recent fund-raiser was a football shirt discotheque at the Davey Fort headquarters, organised by Bantams' boss Simon Flux, which turned in a profit of £700.
The next major initiative to boost the coffers is a sponsored walk at Strawberry Field on Sunday, starting at 10-45 am and lasting an hour. There will be prizes for the most laps completed and the biggest sums raised. All participants will be given a free pint at the club house where a buffet has been laid on.
The Seasiders also hope to have a rewarding World Cup campaign, having made arrangements to feature a 5ft by 4ft television screen at The Fort headquarters which will be decked out in red, white and blue.
The big games will be shown, with food and drink and hospitality been provided at set fees. The Seasiders' jubilee celebrations include the opening of the clubhouse on the Saturday (June1), when there will be all day barbecue and disco and a bouncy castle for the children.
The annual dinner and presentation night will be held on June 14 at the Woodmead Halls.
