GARY Beale bagged nine wickets as Pavilion Sports broke their duck with a thumping 197-run victory over prevously unbeaten Lytchett in the Premier Division.
Pavilion batted first and made an impressive 243-7 with Paul Martin (55) and Andy Caseley (60) leading the way supported by Paul Taylor (37no) and Jason Martin (24). Lee Westacott (3-51), Leon Polden (2-47) and R Price (2-56) took the wickets at a cost.
Lytchett's innings got off to a slow start and then came to a grinding halt with Beale taking 9-13 off 8.3 overs, six of which were clean bowled. A traumatised Lytchett were finally put out of their misery for just 46.
Beale's figures are the best ever for his team and helped them get the Taylor Rae Team of the Week award.
In a rain affected programme, the only other Premier Division game was the one at Corfe Mullen where CBBEA batted first and could only manage 115-8 off their 42 overs.
Russell Ackrill (26) and Steve Light (30) were the only pair to make headway against Colin Lewis (4-36). Lewis was also among the runs making 55 not out and, with Ian Cresswell also making the same score, Corfe Mullen breezed to a nine-wicket win.
In Division One, only one team managed to get over 150 runs and that was Corfe Mullen 2nds. Their match at home to Kingston Lacy 2nds saw Corfe bat first and post 185-6. Paul Lousteau (66), B Bolt (24) and S Moore (27no) were the mainstays while Jamie Holton (2-40) was the best of the Lacy attack. The visitors got off to a good start with the first wicket going down at 55, but then Paul Cox came on to bowl and the wickets started to tumble with Cox returning figures of 6-27 off 10 overs to restrict Lacy to 97 all out.
The runs for Lacy came from the bat of Dave Priddle (29), Mark House (19) and L Wilson (16).
The game between Pavilion 2nds and Lytchett Manor was played at Kinson Manor where Pavilion batted first and could only just get over the 100 mark, making 102-7 off their allotted 42 overs.
Neil Goodman (3-19) and Simon Parslow (2-25) did the damage with only Chris Armstrong (28), Dan Foss (28) and Simon Martin (18) providing any resistance. In Lytchett's innings it was Simon Martin (3-29) who was the best bowler and Neil Goodman (20), Parslow (22 no) and Phil Carter (30) who made the runs as they got home by four runs.
The other two games in Division One were very low scoring affairs, Winton versus Carters at Meyrick Park could only just muster 150 runs combined. Carters were bowled out for just 76 runs with only Chay Fox (20) withstanding Elliot Brooks (4-20) and Steve Miles (3-21). Winton got the runs for the loss of just five wickets with Nick Olding (3-30) ensuring respectability.
British Gas against Bransgore was an even lower scoring game and saw Gas unable to get their season off the mark.
Gas were bowled out for 51 with only Richard Owen (27) getting into double figures. Neil Dunning (5-16), Mark Shutler (3-12) and Andy Syrett (2-4) took the wickets. Bransgore's Michael Butcher (32no) steered his side home by eight wickets.
In Division Two only two games were played and both of these were low scoring affairs.
Parley could manage only a paltry 50 against Brank-some's attack with only Lawrence Payne (14) and Stephen Walters (11) getting to double figures.
Branksome's bowlers all managed to get among the wickets with Ian Daly (3-8) and Gary Watson (3-6) on form.
Branksome got the runs in just over 13 overs with the loss of just three wickets led by James Fairbairn (28no) and a generous number of extras. Parley's Peter Walters (2-13) and Dave An-drews (1-18) showed some fight.
The other game in this division was played at Fernheath Road and saw Royal Mail continue where they left off last season with Mark Beale (62) getting among the runs again. Mail fielded first and were in the wickets in the first over, and, with Dan Baguley (49) running out of partners, Winton Sports made just 98.
The only other batsman to get into double figures was Tim Nicholson (12). Royal Mail's best bowlers were Alec Fisher (5-18) and Matt Ashton (2-22). Mail knocked off the runs steadily and reached their target in the 25th over for the loss of just two wickets.
