GOALKEEPER Nick Christopher's shoot-out heroics clinched Ham-worthy RBL an unprecedented fourth trophy this season after a dramatic 5-4 Bankes Cup penalties win over Angel Hornets at Wimborne Town's Cuthbury ground.
With the match poised at 3-3 at full-time, Christopher stepped up to hammer home penalty number two before pulling off a superb save to keep out Angel's fourth spot-kick.
Substitute Dean Layden then netted the decisive quartet winning kick as Hamworthy added the charity cup to their Dorset Division Three league and cup double and the Dorset Junior Cup. The productive Layden had earlier turned the match on its head after his half-time introduction provided the catalyst for Steve Collinson's side to overhaul a 1-0 first half deficit.
Layden set up Shane Stanley for the equaliser just after the break before getting himself on the scoresheet shortly after. The Hamworthy man then played a significant role in RBL's third goal as Scott Hunter handed them what should have been an unassailable lead.
But Hornets hit back in the late stages.
And, after a goalless period of extra-time, it fell to Christopher to keep his nerve and produce his match-winning shoot-out heroics.
Hamworthy RBL: Christopher, Gollop, Ison, Scammell, McCabe, Woodrow, Stanley, Duff, Mordew, Bowen, Hunter. Subs: Layden, Birch, Wenham
