GARDENERS raised £1,800 for Weymouth Lifeboat by flocking to a popular plant sale and coffee morning.
Organisers say the event, held at Friar Waddon Farm between Upwey and Portesham, was a big success with more than 250 people snapping up plants grown by members and friends of the Weymouth Ladies Lifeboat Guild.
Di Ludlow, the guild secretary, said: "The response to the event was simply amazing and I'd like to thank everyone who helped run the event and also those who came along to support such a worthwhile cause."
Members are now gearing up for Weymouth Lifeboat Week, between July 28 and August 3, when numerous fund-raising activities are planned, including barbecues at Nothe Fort and Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy at Osprey Quay, Portland.
