A FINE all-round performance from Kingston Lacy captain Barry Park ensured his side's seven-wicket victory over Henstridge in Sunday Division One.
Henstridge got a solid start from openers Pete Anyan (46) and Steve McCabe (24) who put on 59 but then the top four batsmen were taken out by Park (4-36) and it was left to skipper Paul Travers (44 no) to take them to 173-7. Lacy's openers Andy Hayward (42) and Shane Cherrett (17) put on 43 before the side slumped to 79-3. Park (66 no) and Graham Cole (39 no) shared in an unbeaten fourth wicket stand of 95 as Lacy won with two balls to spare.
Blandford struggled to 70-6 against Colin Lewis (6-34) before Stuart Jeans (23) and Matt Pike (27) took them to a more respectable 125. Corfe Mullen were a long way from home at 73-5 but Neil Walpole made 24 not out and they won by three wickets.
After Cranborne's top order, mainly Vince Dawkins (43), Andrew Loader (31) and Phil Park (65), had put them in a strong position at 128-3, they lost their way against Chris Powell (6-68) and were all out for 181. A second wicket stand of 113 between Paul Osborne (57) and John Powell (65 no) set up Studland's six wicket win and they are the only unbeaten side in the division.
Parley were never in control against the Colehill attack of which Richard Turner (3-33) and Nigel Woodruff (12-2-18-2) were the most effective. Once Carl Brissett (22) and Gavin Oldbury (27) were out, they folded for 138. Nick Knight (79) swept Colehill home by seven wickets in the 32nd over.
Kilmington and Stourton made slow progress but they managed 164-7 mainly through Clive Hamblin (40 no), Alistair Crawford (31) and Martin Wood (27) as Ken Banfield claimed 3-33. Bournemouth and Old Bournemouthians were soon floundering at 8-5 against the opening attack of Simon Snook (2-8) and Jason Lapham (2-14).
Thomas (39) led a recovery but, with the remaining wickets falling to Hamblin (3-28) and Mark Prince (2-17), the visitors were sent packing for 81 in the 35th over.
Weymouth are the only unbeaten side in the Premier Division after their eight wicket victory over Portland Red Triangle and last season's champions Colehill are languishing near the foot of the table after losing to Dorchester.
It was only an unbeaten 37 from 'keeper Chris Edmunds which lifted Colehill to 147-8 after Sean Walbridge (10-6-10-2) and Tommy Tucker (4-40) ripped out their early and middle order and reduced them from 60-1 (Chris Dunk 25) to 114-7. Dorchester were always in the driving seat and their first four batsmen, Ian Sibley (25), Sean Walbridge (24), Paul Basingdale (22) and Pete Diffey (55) set up their six wicket win off 33.4 overs.
Parley were dismissed for 175 off the last ball of the 50th over with Gavin Oldbury (47) and Neil Rogers (32) the main scorers against Simon White (5-23). Broadstone were kept in check by Bill Murray (10-2-16-4) and although Ian Paulley (34) and White (23) took them to 87-3, their last seven wickets fell in quick succession and they were all out for 145 off 42.1 overs.
With only Lindsey Bray (23) resisting, Wimborne struggled to 138 as Ben Skipworth took 3-10.
Poole Old Grammarians and Poole lost two wickets for two runs and, after Graham Hassall was out at 46, skipper Dave Miller (55 no) and overseas signing Guy Bidwell (47 no) put on 93 and they won by seven wickets.
Hamworthy Recreation will want to forget that their guests Stalbridge amassed 314-6 and went on to win by a massive 185 runs. The visitors' openers Pete Anyan (72) and Matt Chant (71) went off in a positive style and put on 122.
The rate was maintained by Sam Diment (69) and Chris Eggleton (37 no) as Richard Hatcliffe (3-62) tried to stem the flow. Shell shocked Hamworthy lost wickets to Diment (4-11) and surrendered at 129 with 21 apiece from Steve Lawson and Mike Fisher.
Three of the five Division One matches were victims of the weather and it left Marnhull as the only side to have won their three opening matches. Les Elsworth (27) and Barry Lewis (25) took them to 159-9 with Jeremy Buxton (3-30) and Mike Harper (3-36) the pick of the attack. Compton House lost their first four batsmen to Mike Northcott (4-31) and Elsworth (3-29) accounted for the middle order as the visitors slumped to 38-6. Dave Warman (31) made it a bit better before they gave up at 123.
Sherborne's hopes of returning to the top flight took a knock when they were slayed by Swanage by seven wickets. Only Richard Carter (26) looked at ease against Guy Watson (11-5-11-3) and Brian Jones (3-31) as they stuttered to 102-9 from their 45 overs. It took Swanage just 29.2 overs to overhaul their opponents' total with opener Craig Wells hitting 64 not out.
Bowling performance of the weekend came from Ashmore's Dan Britton who destroyed Old Blandfordians in Sunday Division Three, taking eight of their wickets.
Ashmore's early runs came from Sam Diment (45) and Andy Taylor (41) but they lost wickets to Gary Sollis (5-49) and were very unsteady at 149-9. The last pair, Jones (58 no) and Guy (9), shared in a 10th wicket stand of 67 which propelled the home side to 216.
Britton was soon into his stride and the visitors crashed to 16-5 and 30-9 as he claimed the first seven wickets. Diment chipped in with 2-26 as the battered Blandfordians' innings closed at 41 off 17 overs, Britton returning figures of 9-2-12-8.
