A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been seriously injured after a car deliberately swerved across the road and ploughed into a group of pedestrians in Poole last night, police said.
The gang of four males were heading towards Ashley Cross along North Road at 8.55pm when a red burgundy old-style Volkswagen Polo collided with one of the gang opposite the Harbour Lights Hotel.
Police say the vehicle, which was heading along North Road towards Ashley Road, deliberately swerved along the wrong side of the road towards the group.
It collided with the 16-year-old who was thrown onto the bonnet and carried along before falling to the ground.
The driver of the car failed to stop and drove off in the direction of Ashley Road.
The boy, believed to be from the Poole area, was taken to Poole General Hospital suffering from back and internal injuries.
Police are now urgently seeking any witnesses to the incident or anyone who has information on the vehicle involved to contact them.
