A DIAMOND wedding couple will be keeping it all in the family.
Roy Hunt, 82, and his wife Mary, 80, from Cromwell Road, Weymouth, are celebrating 60 years of marriage today surrounded by friends and family, including their five great-grandchildren.
Son Steven has flown in especially from Atlanta in America with his wife, Cynthia. And coming from New York is granddaughter Adele, but sister Joanne will not be attending as she is expecting the couple's sixth great-grandchild.
A party for the diamond couple is being held at the Eastney Hotel in Longfield Road in Weymouth, which is run by their daughter, Susan Broadhead with her husband Tom. Grandchildren Sarah and Paul are also coming.
Mr and Mrs Hunt met in Wyke Regis during the war. Mr Hunt, from Cerne Abbas, was a policeman and Mrs Hunt, one of four sisters from Wyke Regis, worked at the torpedo factory.
They married at All Saints Church in Wyke and held their reception at the Mason's Arms pub, which no longer exists.
After the war they lived in Bournemouth and then Weymouth from 1952. They enjoy living in the town and know many people in Wyke Regis.
According to the couple, the secret of a long and happy marriage is having a good sense of humour.
Mrs Hunt said: "We had very hard times in the war and our ups and downs, but we always had a good sense of humour which has kept us young."
Mrs Hunt's sister, Joan, will be celebrating her diamond wedding in August.
