EXCITING Western Australia prospect Luke Ronchi smashed five sixes clean out of the Bashley Cricket Ground as the New Forest club went on a 301-run romp against ECB Southern Electric Premier League rivals Burridge, writes Mike Vimpany.
Ronchi, 21, sent one six into the Bashley football ground, another into a nursery and three more into the road on his way to a blistering 96 scored off 70 deliveries.
"Two of the sixes were among the biggest I'd ever seen at Bashley," confirmed skipper Neil Taylor, whose side rattled up a massive 301-5 off 50 overs.
Ironically, both Ronchi and Neil Thurgood (97) missed out on centuries after their second wicket stand yielded 138 and eased Bashley to 200-2.
Thurgood, yet to score a SEPL century, played the supporting role in a 62-run start with Andy Sexton (41), while Ronchi typically dominated, hitting nine fours, in addition to his five out-of-ground sixes. Richard Knowles weighed in with an unbeaten 43 as Bashley took the game totally out of reach.
Neil Cunningham (50) top-scored as Burridge replied with 199-9 - Kevin Nash (3-33) and Neil Taylor (3-25) taking the bowling credits for Bashley.
Enigmatic Lymington caught the Hampshire Academy side on a Sports Ground 'turner' and celebrated a 27-run Premier Division to win over the county hopefuls.
Spin trio Glyn Treagus (4-17), Aaron Heal and Danny Peacock reduced the Academy from a threatening 98-2 to 146 all out on a drying surface.
Laurie Prittipaul (44) and David Wheeler (37) had eased the Academy to within striking distance of Lymington's 173-9.
But after Prittipaul had been brilliantly caught at slip by the diving Ben Craft, the youngsters crumbled in the difficult conditions.
Peacock (63) and Ben Craft (46) had earlier repaired an initial double strike by James Schofield (2-13) to take Lymington to 114-2 before three-wicket David Griffiths (3-41) created inroads and knock the Linnets score off course.
New Milton's unbeaten Division Three start ended in emphatic fashion at Havant, where the hosts piled up a massive 253-4 before securing a handsome 120-run victory.
Milton's seven-man attack was mauled by Havant openers JJ Owen (60) and Simon Greenfield, who went on to compile a career best 117 not out, which included a maiden century.
New Milton, who had won their two previous matches, were never able to get going and were reeling at 79-6 before John Dolman (35 not out) and Dean Miller (29) added an air of respectability to an eventual 133 all out.
Hampshire Under 13 off spinner Stuart Ransley (4-18) ripped out the New Milton tail
But Bashley (Rydal) II broke their duck with a Graham Pardy-inspired five-run win over Flamingo at Lower Upham.
Pardy, who has taken over the second eleven captaincy from Steve Latimore, hit a timely 63 after the Bashley innings threatened to lose direction from a promising 88-1 (Iain Britton 49).
Pardy and Chris Gates (32 not out) shared a century fifth wicket stand to lift Bashley to 204-6 - a total just byond Flamingo's reach.
Stu Brittan (34) and Chris Greer (32) provided a sedate 72 run start, but the Flamingo middle order fell away against the experienced Stuart Wake (3-52). Flamingo were dismissed for 199.
