CHARITY accordian players have been squeezing their instruments to the merry tune of £1,000.
The 14-strong West Dorset Accordion Group raised the cash for CancerCare Dorset after a year spent touring the county.
Group member Synthia Bennet presented the cheque to CancerCare community fundraiser Julia Ridyard at Manor Park School in Dorchester, where the accordionists meet every Thursday evening.
Ms Ridyard, who helps raise funds for the cancer charity around Dorchester, said: "This is an amazing amount of money raised by the group. We're very grateful for every penny."
The group, which has been together for 18 years, raised the money by charging audiences a small entry fee for its performances.
Mrs Bennet, 75, who has been playing the accordion since she was seven, said she was pleased to present the money to CancerCare Dorset.
She added: "I used to play the piano as a child while my older sister, who's also in the band, played the accordion.
"She used to let me fiddle on the accordion and it carried on from that.
"I didn't find it difficult to learn."
Last year West Dorset Accordion Group raised £1,500 for charity.
