CHILDREN from Winterbourne Valley First School have stepped out for Walk to School Week. They took part in a sponsored walk around the playing field while others used pedal power to get to the Winterbourne Abbas school.
A host of other activities were staged throughout the fundraising day including skipping, country dancing and orienteering.
Parents and friends joined in the day's fun, which also included digging a Golden Jubilee flower bed. The events were part of a joint bid to scoop extra school funds and raise awareness of alternatives to car travel.
Headteacher Anne Allen welcomed the nationwide walk to school initiative and said the day had been a success.
She added: "Most children usually come to school by car or bus so we thought this was a good opportunity to help raise awareness of alternative modes of transport.
"It was a marvellous day and so nice to have a variety of activities."
