HUNDREDS of primary school children got rhythmic with the bongo drums for African week.
Around 400 youngsters aged seven to 11 from six west Dorset schools joined in the African music, dance and art sessions for the four-day cultural event.
The key-stage one and two pupils from Parrett and Axe, Salway Ash, St Mary's, Greenford, Broadwindsor and Sticklands primary schools were treated to a series of one-hour workshops run by Wise Moves - a touring group of West African musicians who aim to raise multi-cultural awareness.
The event was held for two days at St Mary's Primary School in Beaminster and a further two days at Greenford School in Maiden Newton.
The six schools form part of the Beaminster Cluster Link, which is funded by the local education authority's small schools initiative.
Cluster link teacher Gwyneth Irving said: "Africa week has been tremendous fun. The children played bongos for an hour and by the end of the session they were all drumming in unison."
