BRIAN O'Donnell believes Poole Town's Hampshire League Premier Division charge will not be hampered next term by the defection of several key players to Brockenhurst.

Five of last season's Dolphins side have followed former Poole boss Peter Moore to Grigg Lane while Louic Gonzalez-Rocher is also believed to have signed Wessex League forms for Brock.

O'Donnell has already begun the rebuilding process by recruiting talented young goalkeeper Ross Elliott and defender Keith Watling.

But it is the loyalty of Matty White, Neal Spalding and Colin Randall, who completed a clean sweep of the club's player-of-the-year trophies recently, that has most pleased the former Cherries man.

Keeper Randall walked off with supporters' accolade while White followed up his 2000-01 player-of-the-year awards at Poppies by being recognised by his Poole teammates as their man of the campaign.

Spalding also completed an impressive double as O'Donnell named him manager's player-of-the-year and the supporters' club voted him as their most improved player.

O'Donnell said: "I am not disappointed about the players who have left to go to Brockenhurst. We had to freshen up the team and get a younger squad together and I have signed the players I consider to be crucial to the squad.

He added: "I am really pleased to get Neal, Colin and Matty re-signed for us because they deservedly won the awards.

"But I am also looking to increase the competition for places and hopefully Ross Elliott will give Colin a run for his money.

"I still have irons in the fire and I am really confident we can add to the squad, particularly when other players become available when the pre-season friendlies start."

Chris Pratt and Carl Woodward have also pledged their futures to the Tatnam Farm outfit while O'Donnell revealed he was unsuccessful with an approach for ace marksman Jason Lovell.

Poole Town secretary Bill Reid has received another thumbs-up for his impressive Dolphins matchday magazine just days after it was voted among the country's top 10 non-league programmes by Wirral Programme Survey judges.

Reid's efforts have now been recognised by the Soccer Club Swap Shop awards with the Poole programme being voted second best from the 348 clubs surveyed nationally.

Redhill, who won the Wirral award, also took the top Soccer Club Swap Shop honours.
