Portland Bill Lighthouse is the dramatic and appropriate setting for an exhibition which runs until Friday.
By courtesy of Trinity House and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, local girl Vienna Kelly has staged a small but professionally presented exhibition of imagery and artefacts portraying the epic adventures of Gary Fookes and Dominic Marsh in the Ward Evans Atlantic Challenge 2001.
On show is a selection of pictures illustrating the voyage which includes stunning seascapes, sunrises and sunsets as well as evocative images taken on board the Onward by Gary and Dominic.
Artefacts include the sea anchor, freeze dried meals, and menus and Gary's Ward Evans logo cap, of which he is immensely proud.
Vienna has curated the exhibition for an arts administration module for her BA (Hons) in Contemporary Media Practice at the University of Westminster, London.
She said: "I was in Tenerife for the start of the race and was struck by the paraphenalia required for this awesome voyage."
Vienna, whose parents Steve and Lisa live at Straits, Easton, is a former pupil of the Royal Manor School. She commissioned another former pupil and classmate, Nathan Petchey, to design all the publicity materials for her project.
The exhibition is open until 5pm daily and admission is free.
