Weymouth's Football in the Community team are delighted to announce that high street fast food giant Wimpy have agreed to become the main sponsor of the popular Saturday Football Fun Soccer Schools run by the club.

The Terras Community Officer Tim Davis said: "To have a quality company name like Wimpy

associated with the Soccer Schools is a tremendous coup for both the Football in the Community programme and Weymouth Football Club in

general.

"The Wimpy family-friendly policies dovetail exactly with those we are trying to portray at the Wessex Stadium. I am indebted to the Weymouth franchisee Mrs Fay Harvey for her assistance in setting up the deal."

Speaking on behalf of the Weymouth and Swanage

branches of the company, manager Andrew Hunt commented: "We are extremely pleased to be associated with Weymouth Football Club and their superb community programme. We are keen on encouraging sports in the area and the Saturday Football Fun Schools are an ideal way for us to become involved.

"We are greatly looking forward to seeing large numbers of junior Terras fans popping into our restaurant to enjoy the delights of a Wimpy meal."

ULTRACLEAN UK

Local businessman Mr Bob Murphy, the proprietor of Ultraclean UK who specialise in contract cleaning and carpet and upholstery cleaning is the latest company to agree to sponsor the Weymouth Football in the Community team's activities.

The company have agreed to sponsor the school visits programme and can be contacted on 07813 381816 or email ultracleanuk@hotmail.com

Tim Davis said: "It is great to see so many local businesses involving themselves with the football club and I urge Terras fans to support those companies that are supporting us.

"If you require any type of cleaning either for your home or your business make sure you put Bob Murphy and Ultraclean UK at the top of your list.

"Mention you are a fan of the Terras and you might even get a discount!"

TRADE UNION

BECOME COMMUNITY KIT SUPPLIERS

The Transport and General Workers' Union via the 2/338 Branch have agreed to purchase a wide range of football kit to be used by the Weymouth Football in the Community programme.

An ecstatic Tim Davis told the Echo: "The T&G is Dorset's premier industrial trade union so they thought it would be natural to have a link-up with the

county's premier non-League football team.

"There are a large number of Terras fans that are T&G members and the union is delighted to be able to put something back into the local community.

"If you have a problem at work or at home that you think could be helped by the T&G give the Bournemouth office a ring on 01202 294 333."

SIMON SAYS COME TO THE SOCCER SCHOOLS

Weymouth defender Simon Browne is the latest Terra lending his support to the Wimpy Saturday football fun soccer schools. The next coaching session will be held at Budmouth Technology College this Saturday, between 10am and 2pm. It is open to all children, boys and girls (just turn up on the day) and costs just £3 per child.

Hopefully, cricket commitments permitting, Simon has agreed to be in attendance to do some coaching and indeed will

regularly take sessions.

Tim Davis commented: "It is fantastic that Simon has agreed to give up his time to get involved with the soccer schools and the opportunity now exists for children to learn from one of the best defenders in non-League football.

"Ex-Terra and all-round nice guy Martin Underhay has also offered to do some coaching and there is every possibility he will also be in attendance on Saturday.

"The Football in the Community team is doing its best to provide quality coaching for the town's youngsters, now all we need is for the kids to come out in force to take advantage.

"We desperately need 50 a

session to make the soccer schools a viable proposition so Simon says support us."

TERRAS TAVERN

RENOVATION TO BEGIN

The work on turning the Terras Tavern at the Wessex Stadium into a facility to be enjoyed by everybody in the community of Weymouth is about to begin.

Quotes are in the process of being obtained from many local businesses for everything from carpets to paint and laminate flooring to wallpaper but help is still required for two key areas.

Tim Davis explained: "Thanks to our marvellous sponsors South West Trains we can afford many of the items required within the budget given to us. However I am desperate for a local company to provide us with two key items.

"They are a new window to replace an unsightly broken one and a new door and frame to replace the current rotting one.

"If anybody is willing to come forward and provide these they are assured of assistance in the promotion of their business by the Football in the Community team.

"If there is anybody willing to come forward and help could they please contact me as soon as possible."
