GIRLS have caught World Cup fever. And a new range of football fashion ensures that they can watch the games in style.

World Cup inspired T-shirts and accessories at Weymouth's New Look store in New Bond Street are proving extremely popular.

England tops with David Beckham's number seven on the back and light blue trim are a sell out.

Shop manager Debbie Goodall said that the clothes had got women and girls involved in the World Cup.

She said: "The World Cup is not just for blokes. Girls can be kitted out as well."

"You don't have to borrow your boyfriend's England shirt, you can wear something more girly instead."

Also available are shorts, socks, bandannas and purses all featuring the Union Jack and T-shirts with fun football-inspired logos on them.

Italy and Brazil designs are also on offer for those wanting something a little different.

Phil Wrigley, managing director of New Look UK, said that the company had decided to introduce the range, available in Core clothing, Inspire for larger sizes and 915 for nine to 15 year olds, because of increased interest amongst women in the World Cup.

The Weymouth-based company said that more than 10,000 football inspired items had been sold nationally, the most popular being the England T-shirt, but clothes inspired by the Brazilian team were also selling well.

He said: "Women's football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, England have a very good team - so do Weymouth!"

"We recognise that some of our customers want to have fun with the World Cup and some want to show their loyalty and support."
