RETAILERS Marks and Spencer celebrated at its Weymouth branch after a £200,000 overhaul.
The store on St Mary Street was officially re-opened over the Jubilee weekend with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony by little Devon Hellier, who has suffered with a cleft palate.
Staff at the store presented Devon, 11, from Weymouth, with a cheque for £50 to add to funds he has raised for staff at Salisbury Hospital, where he had a series of operations on his palate.
Shoppers enjoyed a host of events to mark the major refurbishment, which includes new flooring, improved displays and better lighting.
Among the activities were an appearance by Portland Premiership football referee Paul Durkin, live jazz and drum music from Weymouth College and Budmouth School, free food tasting sessions and prize give-aways.
Store manager Janette Green said: "We've had a fantastic day. There has been fun and activities across the shop floor. This really is a good start for the store.
"Customers will love our new look store."
