PRISON officers from Dorchester braved stormy weather to battle their way across the SAS selection course on a sponsored trek.
The team walked 28 miles across the Brecon Beacons in just under 10 hours to raise about £500 for the local branch of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
They left Dorchester Prison in the middle of a lightning storm and then faced heavy rain, gales and thick mist in Wales when they embarked on their yomp - a gruelling route used by the SAS to select its elite troops.
Organiser Bob Liddell said: "We knew it was going to be tough.
"The summits of Cribyn and Pen-y-Fan were covered in thick mist, it was raining heavily and was blowing a gale.
"But it was well worth it and we all felt a great sense of achievement on completion."
The seven-man team was Glen Bateson, Jim Haredy, Drew Dearell, Don Eveleigh, Bob Liddell, Ricky Pitman and Craig White.
Mr Liddell said: "Many thanks to everyone who sponsored us and especially Avis for the use of their vehicle."
The team picked the MS Society as the relatives of some colleagues at the North Square jail have been affected.
