A HANDFUL of travellers have settled on a piece of land in Bournemouth.

Between 12 and 15 vans and caravans have moved onto land behind Teachers Provident Society in Deansleigh Road off Castle Lane East.

Police believe they arrived on Friday or Saturday.

Inspector Neil MacBean said officers from Bournemouth Police have been monitoring the situation.

"They have indicated they are not going to be staying very long because they have somewhere else to go to. I am hoping they will move on shortly but so far they have been well behaved."
